Lasertron Maintains a Fully "Green" Facility
Lasertron’s stainless steel cabinets, doors, and drawer fronts help to contribute to the Leed certification program in the following areas:
MR Credit 4.1 and 4.2. Recycled content.
Our products are built primarily (80% or more by weight) from 300 series stainless steel. According to the Specialty Stainless Steel Industry of North America, the average recycled content of 300 series stainless steel is 75% to 85%. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable into similar products with no loss of quality.
EQ Credit 4.4. Low emitting material.
Adhesives used in our products (doors and drawer fronts) are ultralow VOC materials that release virtually no volatile organic compounds after a short (1-2 week) curing period. Our products are typically fully cured by the time they are received by our customers. The curing process releases less than 20% of the amount permitted by the most stringent regulations (California).
Our products are shipped on pallets made from wood chips which utilize 93% of the biomass of the tree as compared with 28% utilization of conventional wood pallets. These pallets are recyclable into new pressed wood pallets.
Upgrading our manufacturing equipment has resulted in an 87% energy reduction related to manufacturing our stainless steel cabinets and doors. The overall facility energy reduction is over 70%. The resulting reduction in greenhouse gasses is 800,000 pounds per year.
Our proprietary decorative etching process uses no chemicals as compared to competing technologies. This process is so innovative that a patent has been filed with the U.S Patent Office.
